Training Programs

Harsco Rail hosts operator and mechanic training programs at their West Columbia, SC location from January to April. Registration is mandatory and individuals are asked to register early to secure a seat. Sessions are held either Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday, all open dates are 8:00am. Casual dress is requested, and no shorts or open toe shoes will be allowed. A plant tour will require steel toe shoes.

MARK IV SYSTEM V (JUPITER I & II) Machine S/N 7102082 to present
This course will cover in detail the Mark IV Jupiter Production / Switch tampers. This includes safety, maintenance, calibration, operation and set up.

Troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic as well as the electrical systems will be covered including proper use of test instruments. A thorough discussion of all main toolbars and their functions, plus Jupiter I & II modules diagnostics will be covered.

Model 6700S MECHANICS and OPERATORS
This course will cover in detail, the model 6700S Jupiter I and II Production / Switch tampers. This will include safety, setup, controls, calibration, and maintenance.

A thorough discussion of the Jupiter machine as to applying it to all areas of track surfacing and lining. Instructions will include utilization of the Jupiter Machines Touch Screen for all features of operation.

Model 6700S MECHANIC and OPERATORS (Non-Jupiter)
This course will cover in detail, the model 6700S Production / Switch tampers. This will include safety, setup, controls, calibration, troubleshooting and maintenance as applied to all aspects of track work. Teaching of schematic readings will include the Electrical, Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems.

A thorough discussion of the 6700S machine as to applying it to the track, including lining curves with Version 6 and Ver. 7 liner systems.
