HARSCO RAIL EMPLOYEE AWARDED PRESTIGIOUS TITLE BY RAILWAY AGE
W. COLUMBIA, S.C. (February 28, 2017) . . . Harsco Rail announced today that Evan P. Sevel, Global Director of Equipment, has been selected as one of “Railway Age’s” Fast Trackers — 10 Rising Stars Under 40 list. This is the 2nd annual contest that profiles 10 individuals who’ve made an impact in their respective fields within the railway industry. “Railway Age” is an American trade journal for the rail transport sector that raises issues and seeks solutions on what matters most to the industry. The feature story appears in the February issue, and Sevel will be recognized at the Railroader of the Year dinner, hosted on March 14 in Chicago, IL.
Harsco colleagues nominated Sevel for the work he’s doing to address one of Maintenance of Way’s most critical pressure points today – railway safety. Sevel leads Harsco’s strategic commitment to elevating the industry’s future-facing models of productivity, efficiency, and reliability. By envisioning, designing, and creating a larger ecosystem of products and solutions, he is supporting the industry in overcoming the challenge of managing reduced transportation of commodities, while preparing for a future of increased intermodal demand.
“The North American railway network is on the cusp of technology transformation, with accelerating use of drones and new collision avoidance technologies, along with greater deployment of new vision systems,” said Jeswant Gill, President of Harsco Rail. “We are proud of Evan and his dedication to delivering smarter and safer machines to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers.”
Sevel holds a bachelor’s of science degree in mechanical engineering from The Ohio State University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Sevel resides in Northeast Columbia with his family where he’s actively involved in the community, including the local YMCA and The Salvation Army. Sevel and his wife also commit charitable giving in support of animal welfare, and he has previously co-chaired for the Community Service Committee for The Ohio State Alumni Club of Chicago.
